Picking Up an Envelope or an Oversized Package

Picking Up an Envelope or an Oversized Package

If a recipient’s package is oversized or an envelope, the package will be placed in a designated area. When the recipient arrives to pick up, they will be informed where to retrieve their package from.

The Smart Package Room should have a designated area for these types of packages:

For envelopes:
Typically, for large volumes of envelopes, a shelf is designated as Envelope Bins. Bins should be set up alphabetically by last name or by Unit #. There are other solutions for envelopes.

For oversized packages:
An area should be designated for extra-large packages, most times this is another area of the room.

To pick up an oversized package or envelope:

  1. At the kiosk, the system recognizes a presence and automatically takes you to the sign-in screen, or Touch to Begin.
  2.  Scan the QR code or enter the 6-digit PIN they received from the Email notification.
The screen will display how many packages they have awaiting pickup.
The system displays a map of the room, if the package is oversized or an envelope, the map should display the pickup location/area. The door will unlock.
  3. Enter the room and listen to the audio instructions.
  4. Pick up their package from the Oversized or Envelope area.
  5. IMPORTANT: Touch Confirm Pickup on the kiosk. This is important for a resident to confirm pickup. This notifies the system that the package has actually been picked up. If a recipient does not touch Confirm Pickup, the package is still identified as “in the room.”
The system informs if there are additional packages to pick up by announcing through audio and pointing to the next package. If they have more than one package to pick up, they should listen to the audio to instruct them when to pick up the next package. When complete, the system informs that they have successfully picked up all packages.
  6. Exit the room and close the door.
