Using Surveillance Data to Track Packages
You can view surveillance video in the Portal to help
identify what happened to a package.
To view surveillance to
track a package:
- From the Portal’s home page, click Packages and locate the package you're looking for.
- Click the white X on any blue
filter boxes at the top of the list (usually “Checked-In” is there by default). Click the X to be able to view all packages instead of just the ones that are
checked in.
- Next, locate your package using
the Tracking Number, Resident, or Unit number. Click on the desired package and
mouse-over the “Checked-In” and “Checked-Out” times to find the exact times it
was in the room. You can also click the “Latest Room Photo” to see where the
package was last registered on the shelf. This will tell you which shelf it’s
on as well (L1, L2, R1, R2, etc).
- Scroll down to the Surveillance section, and click Image Source to check off whichever zones you want to
see surveillance of. If Image Source doesn't load any options yet, give the
Portal up to 5 minutes to load your surveillance info.
- Select your desired Image Sources
and then click the blue Magnifying Glass button.
- Click on the “Room View” and “Shelf
View” bars to see activity, and use the Left and Right Arrow keys
on your keyboard to scroll through images frame-by-frame. The Shelf View keeps track of when something is removed from the shelf or added
to the shelf and Room View shows you when motion was detected inside the room. If you wish to see surveillance
footage outside of the Checked-In and Checked-Out time of the package, go to
the Home page again, and then click Surveillance. Select the appropriate Image
Sources (after letting it load long enough), and enter your desired time range.
Click the blue Magnifying Glass button, and the data will populate. When you
find surveillance data you believe to be relevant, you can use the “Package
Detail” button above the surveillance photo to see whose package was being
moved or picked up at the time of the photo.
All of these pieces of
knowledge will contribute to your investigation. If you have difficulty finding
the answer still, please contact Position Imaging Support to assist in further
evaluating your Surveillance information.
